3barrymores and their roles?

1) Mr Sherlock Holmes, the world famous fictitious detective has fuelled the imagination of his readers since the time of his inception into the world of literary fiction. The renowned detective is an eccentric character with innumerable quirks but a possessor of an intellect which is far beyond human conception. Though he puts it down to acute observation of people and surroundings, his analytical skills and deductive methods are indicative of a genius which can fathom things which others would find inexplicable and explain it so lucidly that one would be amazed at the simplicity of his find. Sherlock Holmes had a unique sense of humour,an inimitable style and a deep respect for his friend Dr Watson, his right-hand man and dear friend. Holmes possessed a rational mind and an empirical belief which led him to reject any explanation that could not be arrived at through logical reasoning. His methods of investigation and analysis depended solely on his personal observation of the surroundings and enquiry into the circumstances. Even though he sent Dr Watson to the Baskervill House, he did not refrain from carrying on investigations of his own and being at hand should any problem arise. His methods were quite unconventional, he would don disguises and venture out to look at the matter himself because it would be easier to do so in disguise. Thanks to Dr Watson's accounts, Holmes had become a familiar face and name so he had to take extra precaution not to hamper the investigations by virtue of his own fame. He was always on guard, looking out for clues and the slightest departure from what had been professed,a keen student of human gestures and actions which would help him read the psychological states of the person. For him evidential proof and thorough enquiry was extremely important in decoding a case.

2) Dr Watson was an intellectual stimulant when it came to Holmes' investigations as a detective. What he means is that Dr Watson stimulates Holmes by committing mistakes in his analyses which guides Holmes towards the truth because then he can eliminate the other possibilities as posited by Watson. By noting Watson's erroneous conclusions,he was occasionally guided towards the truth. Dr Watson was like a conductor of light with a remarkable power of stimulating genius without being the possessor of one. Hence, Holmes was in debt of Watson for guiding him towards the truth by his own false conjectures. Holmes in no way devalued Watson's contribution but was merely stating the facts with honesty.
