Let the length of the rod be l.

Time taken by sound wave to cover distance l in air is, 

Time = Distance/ Speed 

t = l / 330  ...(i)

Time taken by sound wave to cover distance l in iron rod, 

Time = Distance/ Speed 

t' = l / 5200  ...(ii)

 Therefore, 

t/t' = 5200 / 330 = 15.76
