3. How is Jack’s childhood interwoven in the story of

the stinky skunk?

Jack's childhood is interwoven with the character of Skunk. Like Skunk, Jack was obedient as a child. He loved his mother very much. Jack is the author's alter ego in the story. John Updike had psoriasis and stammering when he was young and his mother helped him to overcome it. Like Jack, Skunk too suffered social rejection because of his bad smell.
