A hot glass chimney often cracks when a drop of water falls on it. Why?

hey dis is bcoz as the place where drop of water falls,the glass undergoes contraction due to decrease in its temperature but the inner surface is still in the expanded state as it is hot due to which hot glass chimney cracks..:-)

When a drop of water falls on a hot glass chimney there is a sudden drop of temperature on the spot where the water drop hits. This decrease in temperature makes the glass to contract. The stress developed on the site of contraction is responsible for the cracking of the glass chimney.
