A life full of struggle and adversity can move on a smoother path with a cheerful countenance and a positive attitude. Justify the statement in context to Two Gentlemen of Verona.

The boys' father had been killed in the war and a bomb had destroyed their house rendering them homeless. As the Germans had ruled the city for many years, the children had to suffer a lot and their sister, Lucia contracted tuberculosis of the spine because she could not bear the cold and starvation. The boys brought Lucia who had once upon a time wanted to be a singer but now they could only bring in just enough money for her treatment. The boys, at this young age had taken the task of caring for their sister on their young shoulders. This is the truest form of social work, to not be selfish but to work for others without the expectation of any reward. They were taking care of their sister out of love. Their cheerful countenance and positive attitude towards the hardships in their lives is what set them apart and also ensured that they actually succeeded in working things out. They were the true modern gentlemen who triumphed in abject adversity without losing the magnanimity of their heart and a nobility of purpose. They were devoted to the cause of looking after their sister from such a young age but not grudgingly, this is what displays their maturity and makes them a symbol of hope for the future.
