a man of mass 60 kg.what will be his weight on earth and moon

Hi Arjun Shyam,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

Mass of the man=60 kgWeight on the earth , W = mgg is acceleration due to gravity =9.8 m/s2So ,W = 60×9.8 =588 NValue of  acceleration due to gravity  on the moon, g' = g/6                                                                            g'=9.8 /6=1.633 m/s2Weight on the earth,W'=mg'= 60×1.633 =97.98 N

The weight is the product of mass acceleration due to gravity. The gravitational force of moon is 1/6 th that of the Earth. Hence , the weight of man on moon will be : (1/6)*60
i.e. 10 kg. However the mass remains same because it is independent of the gravitational force........!!!!

weight on earth= 60x9.8=588N

weight on moon=1/6*588=98N
