A pet is more than that. It is the member of the family, councious of its duties responsibilities. How does Duke prove the above observation right? Kindly give the answer in 80 - 100 words.

Duke shared a very intense and loving relationship with Chuck and his wife. He was more of a family member to them than a pet. Duke's role in the recuperation of Chuck shows the kind of familial responsibility he had taken up regarding Chuck. He was a great support to Chuck throughout his fight with depression and moroseness and constantly encouraged him in his attempts. After the accident and the homecoming, Chuck grew sad and worse, hopeless. He felt that because of his semi-paralyzed state he was no longer fit for any work. However, Duke helped in changing this perception of his. Though Chuck lay on his bed utterly helpless and as an invalid, Duke attempted, time and again, to receive some response from Chuck. Chuck’s presence and casual patting no longer sufficed. By tugging on the leash he let Chuck know that he had some expectations from him and Chuck ultimately gave in to his wish. Thus, Duke forces Chuck into some action and as Chuck walks on “step by step” he begins to feel that all is not lost. Duke shakes Chuck into mobility which gradually helps him gain confidence in himself. Duke’s patience with Chuck is remarkable and was much needed. Chuck needed time, several pushes and multiple attempts which is what Duke, as a loving and caring family member, provided him with. He further became the reason for Chuck's success at his office.
