(a) What is the colour of ferrous sulphate crystals? How does this colour change after heating?

The colour of Ferrous Sulphate is green. On heating the colour of the Ferrous Sulphate first changes to white and then to brown. This is a thermal decomposition reaction. The white coloured substance is anhydrous Ferrous Sulphate and brown coloured substance is Ferric Oxide.

The  ferrous sulphate is not heated ,FeSO4.7H20.At this state colour of ferrious sulphate is green. But as it is heated it loses its 7water molecules of crystallisation and comes to its anhydrous state . In its anhydrous state ferrous sulphate is white in colour.

the colour of ferrous sulphate colour is green it changes on heating as water of crystalisation evaporates

FESO4.7H20 -green in color.
On heating , loses water of crystallisation and changes from
green -  white - brown .

The colour of ferrous sulphate crystals is green.ferrous crystals change its colour on heating, the ferrous crystals lose his water {FeSO4.7H2O} due to this, the ferrous sulphate crystals change their colour into yellow.

before heating  the ferrous sulphate the crystals are green in colour but after heating it becomes yellow in colour.

colour of ferrous sulphate crystals is green. After heating the colour changes because ferrous sulphate crystals lose water on heating and due to this the compound changes to dirty yellow colour.

Colour of ferrous sulphate is light green and on heating, it changes into reddish brown.

If in the examination we don't know the colour of any of the solution then what?

On heating, ferrous sulphate crystals lose water and anhydrous ferrous sulphate(FeSO4) is formed. So their colour changes from light green to white. On furtherheating, anhydrous ferrous sulphate decomposes to form ferric oxide (Fe2O3), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and sulphur trioxide (SO3).

Colour of ferrous sulphate crystal is green. After heating it changes from green to colourless because after heating all the water of crystallisations (7) present in it gets evaporated.
