Aluminium is a reactive metal but it is still used for packing food articles.Why?

  • easily available
  • abundant metal
  • reactive metal but it forms a protective oxide layer around itself preventing complete reaction  and also does not affect the food at all.

Al is malleable in nature i.e. malleability is the property in which metal or element cam be easily reshaped or hammered without breaking or cracking
So Al forms a layer of oxide over its surface which prevent from being reacted and spoilage of the food
In addition to being highly malleable, aluminium also has good ductility, it means that it can be stretched without breaking.

 because aluminium has great affinity for oxygen and so there is a shining coating of aluminium oxide on the foil which is stable

Because it do not react with the food.

Because it helps in protecting food materials and keep moisture and air out. And Al is highly Malleable.
Corrosion of aluminum can be expressed by the formula:
2 Al + 3 O2 ------> 2 Al2O3

Because it is some what costlier than the Copper, which is used in the wires.
And it helps the food not to go into spoiling.Thus it is used as packaging the food.
There are also Aluminium vessels etc...
