analyse any five problems in the function of ration shops ?

Problems of functioning of ration shops:

* Many retail shopkeepers have large number of bogus cards to sell food grains in the open market.

* Many dealers resort to malpractice since they acquire less salary.

* Poor supervision

* Lack of accountability

 * Spurring number of middlemen who consume a good proportion of the stock meant for the poor.

* No clarity as to which families should be included in the BPL list and which excluded.

* Many BPL families are not able to acquire ration cards either because they are seasonal migrant workers or because they live in unauthorised colonies.

* Some mortgage their ration cards for money.

the problems faced by ration shops are as follows:

1. the ration shops do nt opne regularly.

2. the shopkeepers in order to earn profits, sell the stock in the market and buy cheap and bad quality material to sell it to the poor,

3. since there is very less maintaince, so the food gets spoilt

due to the above reasons, the poor and the needyhas to buy from market at high prices.

As vansh5 has already posted 3 points, I'm posting 2 more.

1.The food grains supplied by the ratio shops are not enough to meet the consumtion needs of the poor. As a result, they have to depend on markets instead.

2. With the introduction of three different ration cards, the price for above poverty line family is almost as high as open market price, so there is little incentive for them.
