Appearances can surely be deceptive. The physical garb may not reflect the soul of the person and thus, being judgemental on the basis of appearance would be wrongful. In the story, the two brothers used to be very shabbily dressed, so much so that the driver advised the narrator not buy anything of them as he suspected them of trickery. He had thought that two boys in such poor condition were surely upto some mischief. Though the narrator had taken  a liking to the boys from the very start and greatly appreciated their hardworking nature, he had his doubts and thought it all to be too good to be true. He felt that the brothers were upto some roguery if not in their means of earning then atleast in their way of spending. This is why he asked the boys what they did with the money they collected. He thought there must be something wrong somewhere. But it was not so at all. The brothers remained uncomplainingly in their dishevelled state but worked with passion inorder to make enough money to be given as treatment fee for their sister. They were self-sacrificing and did not even think of running away with the money. Their "plans" were very philanthropic. Moreover, they were very ethical as they refused any favor offered to them. Despite the tragedy they had been through, they did not take to wrongful habits and means. Thus judging a person based on pre-concieved notions is always a great error. The narrator, too, realises this truth after he gets to know of their history and at the end, considers them noble and worthy of heart-felt respect.

The narrators driver luigi had dissapproved of their appearances becoz of their shabby clothes but the truth was quite different, The two were as gentle as one could be. They were ideal for those who believe in love, faith and patience and hard work.

Appearences are deceptive and all that glitters are not gold. no one can guess from thier appearences that they could have great qualities of gentlemanliness and sacrifice for others. what they could do for their sisiter is just superb and unparallel

anything by its exterior appearance. One can't find the real worth of any one just by seeing 

his external appearances. Not all who looks decent outside are decent inside too. One should be 

judged only by their characters and not by their outward appearance. In real life situation, 

many crooks, by their outward attitude and behavior, make themselves appear to be gentlemen and 

noble people. That is why there is a famous proverb saying "All that glitters is not gold". So 

in every walk of life, one should always remember that outward appearances may not always be 

the truth and act accordingly
There is a well-known expression "Don't judge a book by its cover" means that we shouldn't 

judge other people just by what we see on the outside. We shouldn't be judging someone when we 

haven't fully known that person, we shouldn't be biased just cause of there looks or where they

appearances are deceptive and all that glitters are not gold. both the boys, nicola and jacopo were dirty, shabby and appeared like frauds, cheat, theif. but they possessed such great qualities of a gentleman like honesty , self respect , self pride, devotion. they love their sick sister and worked hard for the treatment of their sister. thus, we can conclude that apperances are deceptive.
