 Similie: when there is direct comparison btw 2 things...oftenly introduced by 'like' or 'as'

Metapahor: there is indirect comparison btw two..words..without like or as..

Aliteration: when there is repetion of sound occurs...like bingle bog..

personification : when a non living thing is compared to human beings...than this poetic device used..

imagery : the ability to form mental images of things or events....like, bloody sun..

 @akash - the simile and metaphor thing is wrong

simile - there is indirect comparison                                                                                                                                                                              eg : as black as coal             here as is used

metaphor - there is direct comparison                                                                                                                                                                            eg : she is the morning star. this is a metaphor
