Carbon tetrachloride is not a good conductor of electricity . Why?

Carbon tetrachloride is made covalent compound. So, it cannot allow flow of elctrons and ions. Thus it is not a good conductor of electricity

it is not a good conductor because it do not form ions in aqueous solution.

Compounds do not allow flow of electrons
  • -6
Because it's a covalent compound

Because carbon has 4 electrons and it's all 4 electrons are used up to form bond.so no more electrons are left .hence no electron are free to move so carbon doesn't conduct electricity

actually, CARBON TETRACHLORIDE is not a good conductor of electricity because it a covalent compound. it is formed by sharing of electrons. So it doesn't have any free electron. So it is a poor conductor of electricity.
