Persome is Bishop's sister in the play . She is practical and worldly -wise. She does not like excessive charity of her brother. She knows that many people exploit him and ask for favours when they need none. She is upset that her brother is excessively magnanimous towards their maid Marie and her mother .She is restless and impatient . She loses her temper soon . In fact , she is foil to her brother . She is practical and spiritual.
