"Counting your chickens before they are hatched" is an idiom, which, in Patol Babu, means "Not to celebrate prematurely; Not to think about success, until he actually achieves it".

this means that dreaming too much before anything actually happens. it says counting on the chickens , which means, before the chicks are born noone can predict how many will survive. something like that. for ex; u think of scoring the higheset marks and becoming the head girl but when you dream of it before studying anything at all , this phrase can be used

here his wife warns him not to dream too much and have great expectations for once turned down it may cause great dissappointment
