Define potential difference between 2 points in an electric circuit. State its SI unit. Name the device used to measure the potential difference between two points in an electric current.

Electric potential of a point in an electric field is defined as the work to be done to move a unit positive charge from infinity to that point.

Potential difference is the difference in the potential between the two terminals of the battery or any other current source connected in the circuit. For example if we say that we have a battery of 3volts then we mean to say that when this battery will be connect in the circuit then it will maintain

a potential difference of 3volts across its terminals.

si unit of potential difference is v

voltmeter is the device by which potential difference is measured
