Definition of air pollution and water pollution
Air pollution:
Air pollution occurs when substances like harmful gases, dust, fumes or odour are present in excessive amount in air. Various pollutants which are harmful to our health and comfort or which could cause damage to plants and animals may be present in air.
Water pollution:
Water pollution can be defined as the contamination of water bodies by various pollutants. It is caused by organic and inorganic industrial waste or household waste which is discharged into rivers. Major industries responsible for it include paper pulp chemical etc
