Difference Between Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats
Western Ghats receive much more rainfall than Eastern Ghats
Because of this, one sees a greater diversity of flora and fauna in Western Ghats than Eastern Ghats
There is a greater variety in height along Western Ghats than Eastern Ghats
Western Ghats are more continuous than Eastern Ghats
Western Ghats face Arabian Sea and run along the Western plateau while Eastern Ghats face the Bay of Bengal and run along the eastern plateau
Anai Mudi is the highest peak in Western Ghats while the honor goes to Mahendragiri in Eastern Ghats
 
Both Western and Eastern Ghats meet at Nilgiri hills.

The western ghats are hill ranges running parallel to the west coast. They are continuous in nature and have a higher elevation than eastern ghats. The elevation of western ghats is between 900-1600 m and they can be crossed only by passes. The western ghats are more suitable for generation of hydel power than eastern ghats.

The eastern ghats are discontinuous and irregular and have lower elevation than western ghats at 600 m. They run parallel to the eastern coast from Mahanadi valley to the Nilgiris. The major rivers that dissect the eastern ghats are Mahanadi, Krishna, Kaveri and Godavari.

Western ghats:-

  1. they dont have many rivers going through ie. only 2 rivers flow
  2. they are very narrow
  3. the north part is called konkan,middle part is called kannad and the southern part malbar
  4. It covers goa, maharashtra,kerela,karnataka
  5. they are not broken up because only 2 rivers flow
