Bishop was full of generosity and provided helping hands to every distress or needy.According to Bishop's point of view he was right in selling the salt cellars because it helped mere gringoire to pay her rent otherwise the bailiff would throw her out of the house.Bishop felt that salt can be kept in china without its taste changed.

Bishop is kind of a person who helps people who needs money for their living. so, according to the Bishop selling the salt cellars is good as he helped the person who was in need of money. but to me, selling them was a bad idea as the salt cellars costs high amount of money and just giving them to others was bad.

yes,i think that the bishop was right in selling the salt cellars as one can eat salt out of a china dish as well and he sold them to pay mrs gringoire's rent,which,if he wouldnt have paid,then the baliff would have thrown her out of the house
