Do you think the cells of an elephant would be larger than the cells of a rat? Explain briefly.

It is not always necessary that large animals do have large number of cells instead they have more or less of them. It was found in the studies that almost all cells are same in size except some cells such as brain cells and fat cells tend to be larger in large animals. More the number of cells, bigger is the size, lesser the number of cells, smaller is the size. Elephant's body cells are not larger, there are more of them which shows from their body size.

ya, it is true as the surface area of both the animals varies a lot and as elephant is larger it can also be that there are more cells in it or few cells with a large size

No, it is not true, cells of all animals are small . If the cells of bigger animals would be big , then the cells oif animals like whale would be visible with our naked eyes. There are specific reasons for the smallness of cells -for example, large number of small cells ensure greater surface area for diffusion.

No,it is not true;an elephant is bigger than a rat because of the more number of cells present in him/her.

cells of a rat or of an elephant are of same size and shape as the shape of a cell does not vary up on the size of an living object

Its true that elephant is larger than a rat but that doen't mean the cell also have to be large. Its the greater number of cell that make elephant a bigger animal
