The narrator hates writing short stories on ghost plots because he does not get very interesting ideas for this in his mind. However, it is his only source of income because his friend Jenkins publishes his stories. Jenkins used to persuade him to write them although the narrator felt that he had no as such bent or inspiration or any specialised skill to write stories on ghosts.

The narrator doesn't like writing ghost stories. Even then he has to write them because he cannot say 'no' to his first publisher Jenkins and also for the need of money to fulfill his wife's demands.

actually john,the narrator is not interested in writng ghost stories but he is insisted and forced to write by jenkins , for his article , since its readers are inspiered by his stories.
