every organism needs food, does a cell also need it?

All the cells whether single-celled organisms or the cells in our bodies, need energy to survive. The cells get this energy from the food, they take in the form of glucose etc. They use this to perform different functions like keeping their organelles functional or helping the organism to perform different functions like movement, digestion etc.
