explain 3 reasons 4 d decline of indian textile industry by d end of 19th century?

  • industrial revolution in britain - after th industrial revolution britain started producing machine made textiles which were often of better quality and cheaper than indian textiles .since indian artisan could not compete with british goods, indian handicrafts slowly died
  • loss of external markets- textiles from india had high demands in europe. british on feeling threatened by this , passed strict laws banning the import of textiles in britain
  • indifference in british rulers- after the industrial revolution when machine goods replaced the hand made goods, the britidh government made provisiond to absorb them in new factories. but in india east india company made no such provisions as they were concerned with making max. profit. thus millions of artisans were left jobles .

hope it helps
