explain chromatography with principle and conditions of its use?

Chromatography is the ability to separate molecules using partitioning characteristics of molecule works on the principle of  difference in movement of different molecules of a mixture in a two different phases such as stationary phase versus a mobile phase. Once a molecule is separated from the mixture, it can be isolated and quantified.

The different type of Chromatography are-
1. Column Chromatography
2. Paper Chromatography
3. Liquid Chromatography
4. Gas Chromatography

 

Example :

1. Liquid chromatography where different organic compounds are separated from inorganic salts i.e. separation of organic  compound using water as solvent  in presence substituted siloxanes in stationary phase.

2.Separation of ink component using ethanol and water solution.

Condition of use are-

The presence of two different phases
1. Mobile phase like water , ethanol solvent etc
2. Stationary phase like paper made of cellulose over which molecules of mobile phase travels.

Except these condition varies with different type of Chromatography
