Democracy produces an accountable, responsive and legitimate government by giving the citizen the right to examine the process by which decisions are made. These decisions are made according to norms and procedures which make the decisions more acceptable to the people. Added to this is the basic fact that in a democracy, the people have a right to elect their own government, and the candidate which is elected is thought to be capable enough to fulfil the demands of the people.

the public delegation process makes the decisions of the govt.fair in the interest of the society at large. A democracy is known to be transparent. Everything that happens in a democracy is known to the people . it does not gives unlimited powers like a monarchy . a democracy is ruled by the consent and active participation of the citizens . democracy produces legitimate got. through the following mechanisms :-

1. conduct of free and fair elections that ensure the accountability of the govt. and election of representatives to legislate and govern on behalf of people.

2. it enables open and public debate on legislations and policies .

3. citizens have the right to be informed about govt. and its functioning.
