Explain the effect of pressure on melting point and boiling point???

Hi Archana!

The boiling point increases as the pressure increases, and boiling point decreases as pressure decreases. In other words, boiling point is directly proportional to the pressure.

The melting point of solids, which contracts when melting, is inversely proportional to pressure. Example: ice. The melting point of solids, which expands when melting, is directly proportional to pressure. Example: wax.

Cheers!!
