Give 5 examples of single displacement reaction
- Cu + 2AgNO3 → 2Ag + Cu(NO3)2
- Fe + Cu(NO3)2 → Fe(NO3)2 + Cu
- Ca + 2H2O → Ca(OH)2 + H2
Displacement reactions are the reactions in which a highly reactive metal displaces a less reactive metal from its compound in aqueous solution.
For example: When zinc granules are placed in Copper Sulphate Solution, the blue color of CuSO4 disappears and a powdery mass of copper is deposited at the bottom of the beaker.
CuSO4 (blue) + Zn → ZnSO4+ Cu (red)
Zinc is highly reactive when compared to copper. So Zinc displaces copper from Copper Sulphate solution.
The other example is:
Mg + FeSO4 → MgSO4 + Fe
Hope this helps!
Cheers!
Zn + 2HCl → ZnCl2 + H2
