A clause is a sentence which can either:

1.stand on its own as an independant sentence and make complete meaning(eg: The Bird was flying high,looking for food.) or

2.depend on the other clause of its sentence to complete its meaning.(Eventhough Tanya bought her Umbrella, she got drenched in the rain.)
