Give rules for Synthesis ....pls
- Synthesis is combining or joining two or more simple sentences into a simple, compound or complex sentence.
- There are many different ways of doing this:
a) By using a participle: He finished the work. he went out to play.
Having finished the work, he went out to play.
b) By using a noun in apposition: This is my sister. her name is Savita.
This is my sister Savita.
c) By using a preposition with a gerund or a noun: I cleaned the room. I found a thousand rupee note.
While cleaning the room, i found a thousand rupee note.
d) By using absolute construction: The dress was costly. She could not buy it.
The dress being expensive, she could not buy it.
e) By using an infinitive: I wanted to win the prize. I practised my act regularly.
I practised my act regularly to win the prize.
f) By using an adverb or adverbial phrase: The sun rose. The soldiers had not completed their task.
The soldiers had not completed their task by sunrise.
