GIVE THE CHARACTERS OF MAGNETIC FEILD LINES.

Characteristics of magnetic field lines

  1. Magnetic field lines emanate from the North Pole and terminate at the South Pole of a magnet.
  2. The degree of closeness of magnetic field lines represents the relative strength of the magnet.
  3. No two field lines can intersect each other.

1. A Magnetic field line line is diercted from north pole to south pole outside the magnet and from south to north pole inside the magnet .

2. A magnetic field line is a closed and continuous curve .

3. The magnetic field lines are crowded near the poles where the magnaetic field is strong and far apart where the field is weak .

4. They never intersect each other .

5. In case the magnetic field lines are parallel and eqiudistant they represent uniform magnetic field .

1.a magnetic field line is a closed and continous curved line from north pole to south pole outside the magnet and from south to north inside the magnet.

2.concentration of magnetic field lines is more near the poles therefore magnetic field is stronger in poles than the centre.

3.they never intersect each other.

4.they are parallel and equidistant therefore forming a uniform magnetic field.

Magnetic lines of force have a number of important properties, which include:

  • They seek the path of least resistance between opposite magnetic poles. In a single bar magnet as shown to the right, they attempt to form closed loops from pole to pole.
  • They never cross one another.
  • They all have the same strength.
  • Their density decreases (they spread out) when they move from an area of higher permeability to an area of lower permeability.
  • Their density decreases with increasing distance from the poles.
  • They are considered to have direction as if flowing, though no actual movement occurs.
  • They flow from the south pole to the north pole within a material and north pole to south pole in air.
