Give the latitudinal and longitudinal extent of India. Also explain the three implications of each extent. PLEASE GIVE THREE POINTS EACH.
The latitudinal extent of India is 8o 4' 28" N to 37o 17' 53" N and the longitudinal extent of India is 68o 7' 53" E to 97o 24' 47" E longitudes.
Implications of latitudinal extent
· The tropic of Cancer passes almost through the middle of the country.
· India consists of both tropical and temperate climate zones.
· Northern India experiences a high annual range of temperature than the Southern India.
Implications of longitudinal extent
· There is a variation of 30o in longitudinal extent causing time difference between the western to eastern end.
· In keeping with the longitudinal extent of the country, a time difference of over 2 hours was observed between Gujarat and Arunachal Pradesh. The longitude 82o30 E' meridian was taken to be Indian Standard Time.
· The Indian standard Meridian divides the country into two halves.
