"The Solitary Reaper" by William Wordsworth is a lyrical poem, where music is an essential element in each stanza of the poetry. Other than mentioning, that the reaper herself was singing, the poet uses number of poetic tropes to render the poem all the more musical. The description of the reaper working alone in the field gives the reader a feeling of serenity and loneliness. The descriptions are so vivid that one can almost visualize the "solitary reaper". Finally, the poet uses allegorical references to musical notes in the lines:
"And sings a melancholy strain;
O listen! for the Vale profound
Is overflowing with the sound."
These lines make the poem all the more musical and at the same time provide the reader with a sense of peace. "The Solitary Reaper" is poem to be read in solitude and that will provide the reader with the sense of peace that he/she desires.
