Promulgation of constitution of India-
  • .  The Constitution of India was framed on the basis of prior experiences of British rule and other international events
  •  After the War of Independence against Great Britain, Americans evolved Constitution which protected the rights of people of the country
  • .  Also after the French Revolution, people of France agreed to democratic form of government and as a result Constitution was framed which guaranteed basic rights to the citizens 
  •   All the important aspects on which these countries framed constitution were awarding right to equality, right to freedom, universal adult franchise, equal voting rights etc.
  •  Similarly, based on these international events Indian Constitution was framed by Drafting Committee
  • An assembly of the elected delegates entrusted with the task of drafting the Constitution of
  • India. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly.
  •  Later, when the country was divided into India and Pakistan, the Constituent Assembly also got divided.
  • At the beginning, the assembly decided on some basic principles. Then a Drafting Committee was formed for giving the final shape to the Constitution. Its chairman was Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
