How can we conserve water today?
Hello,
Various ways in which you can conserve water are:
Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street.
When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.
Monitor your water bill for unusually high use. Your bill and water meter are tools that can help you discover leaks.
If your shower fills a one-gallon bucket in less than 20 seconds, replace the showerhead with a water-efficient model.
When cleaning out fish tanks, give the nutrient-rich water to your plants.
Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth, shaving, washing your hands, or rinsing dishes or vegetables. Each minute you have it off saves at least 3 gallons.
Use biodegradable (phosphate-free) detergents and soaps and re-use dishwater in the garden.
Plant densely in your garden because the denser the vegetation, the more water is stored in what is known as "productive biomass," meaning food plants.
