How can we divide fractions?

When the fractions are involved in division, we convert the division operation into multiplication

operation. To convert a division operation into a multiplication operation, we replace the divisor

by its reciprocal and division by multiplication.

Consider we have to divide $\frac{1}{3}$ by 4, first of all we replace 4 by its reciprocal i.e. $\frac{1}{4}$ and division by multiplication. So,

$\frac{1}{3} \div 4 = \frac{1}{3} \times \frac{1}{4} = \frac{1}{12}$
