HOW  CAN  WE  SEPARATE  POWDERED  SUGAR  AND  SALT

Dear Student,

We can separate the mixture of powdered sugar and salt by dissolving in such a solvent, in which one component of the mixture is soluble and other is not.

For example, if we dissolve mixture of powdered sugar and salt in alcohol, sugar will dissolve in it but salt will not.

So we can filter this solution, where salt will remain at the filter paper.

Now filtrate is the solution of sugar in alcohol. Now evaporate the alcohol and sugar will remain at the bottom of container.

In this way, we can separate out salt from powdered sugar.

Find a filter that one goes through but the other doesn't and filter it out.

or

Mix them both in water and let the sugar settle at the bottom (may take a while). CAREFULLY pour out the water. You now will have sugar and salt-water. You then boil the water until you have only salt left. You now have sugar and salt... seperated.
