how does democracy produce an accountable, responsive and legitimate government?

Democracy is a form of govt in which people rule themselves through the representatives elected by them. These representatives form the govt, make policies and run the adminstration of the country. The govt elected by the people is aso accountable to them. The people also take part in the decision making process through these elected representatives and have to face the electorate at the time of the next general clections.

While making decisions, the govt has to go through certain procedures and the people have the right to know what the govt is going to decide during this time. The people and political parties can criticize the govt policies and so the govt has to be responsive to thier needs otherwise they might get voted out of power at the time f the next elections.

A democratic govt is a legitimate govt because it is held through the legally held elections. The parties that win majority in the elections form the govt and the other parties form the opposition.

(1)IN A DEMOCRACY , WE ARE MOST CONCERNED WITH ENSURING THAT PEOPLE WILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE THEIR RULERS & PEOPLE WILL HAVE CONTROL OVER THEIR RULERS . IF THEY DID NOT WORK PROPERLY , PEOPLE CAN THROW THEM . THUS DEMOCRACY PRODUCE AN ACCOUNTABLE GOVT.

(2)DEMOCRACY IS A GOVT. THAT IS ATTENTIVE TO THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE & IS LARGELY FREE OF CORRUPTION . THUS IT IS A RESPONSIVE GOVT.

(3)DEMOCRATIC GOVT. IS A LEGITIMATE GOVT. IT IS PEOPLE'S OWN GOVT. WHERE PEOPLE ELECT THERE RULERS.

HOPE THIS WILL HELP U . GIVE THUMBS UP IF U LIKE.......

Accountable:

(i) A democracy makes sure that people will have the right to choose their rulers.

(ii) Whenever possible, citizens should participate in the decision-making process.

(iii) Therefore, the most basic outcome of democracy is that it produces a government that is accountable to citizens and is responsive to the needs and expectations of the citizens.

Legitimate:

(i) There is one aspect in which the democratic government is certainly better than its alternatives.

(ii) That is, a democratic government is a legitimate government.

(iii) It may be slow, less efficient but it is the people 's own legitimate government.

Responsive:

(i) People wish to be ruled by representatives elected by them.

(ii) They also believe that democracy is suitable for their country and their problems would be attended to.

(iii) Democracy 's ability to generate its own support is itself an outcome that cannot be ignored.

hope it helps... :)

Accountable,Legitimate and Responsive

Democracy is a form of government that creates opportunities for the citizen to achieve their goals

 Democracy should produce a government that is both accountable and responsive to the needs and expectations of the citizens

 In a democracy, decisions are debated and negotiated upon. This makes them more acceptable and effective as compared to the other forms of government.

 Democracy is also a transparent form of government where citizens can question and enquire regarding the functioning of the government.

 However, democratic governments are not very efficient when it comes to sharing information with people.

 A democratic government is peoples own government as people wish to be ruled by the representatives elected by them.
