HOW DOES HAMEL AROUSE PATRIOTISM IN THE PEOPLE OF ALSACE???

M. Hamel was not only emotional and sentimental, but also a jingoistic person. He loved his country and his language. He did not want anyone to dishonour his country or the language French. He wanted to ignite the same spur of patriotism in his students and the people of Alsace. So before bidding adieu to his student and his career, he told them how amazing their language was. He considered it to be the world’s most beautiful, reasonable and clearest language. He made the people, present over there, promise themselves that they would safeguard their language from foreign manipulation. He also said that they should be inflamed with pride for their motherland and their mother tongue. During the handwriting class M. Hamel circulated some copies, he brought with him, which had the note “France, Alsace, France, Alsace.”At the end, he wrote in the blackboard in bold letters the line:”Vive La France”, meaning long live France. .
