How does relief ie: land and soil affect the natural vegetation ??

How does climate ie: Temprature, photoperiod and precipitation affect the natural vegetation ??

Explain Briefly about each topic

1. Relief impacts the type of vegetation:

a.  The type of soil determines vegetation, fertile land are used for agriculture whereas dry and rough terrain have grasslands, woodlands.
b. The sandy desert soils support cactus and thorny bushes.
c.  The mangrove forests ( found in coastal areas), swamps and sandy coastal forests are grown in coastal delta regions.
d. The hill slopes with  depth in the soil have conical trees.
e.
India's relief features- India has all the major physical features i.e. topography varying from mountains, plains, desserts, plateaus, islands etc which impacts the vegetation.
f. The nature of a landscape will affect the type of vegetation, therefore a fertile levelled land is usually used for agricultural purposes. In addition, rough and rolling terrains provide areas of woodlands and grassy surfaces that develop and protect a range of wildlife.

2. Climate does influence the natural vegetation:

a. Temperature - The temperature affects the extent and the character of vegetation. Foe example - pine and fur trees are only found in cold regions.
b. Precipitation - Areas with high amount of rainfall have more dense vegetation.
c. Climatic conditions , difference in climatic conditions leads to variation in soil which are suited for different types of plants and crops growth. Therefore, we witness diversity  from tropical evergreen forests to thorny bushes, from Equatorial rain vegetation to Alpine vegetation.
d. Photoperiod- growth of plants is affected by the process of photoperiodism. There are long day plants like oat, pea barley and short day plants like cotton, sugar which flower when days are shorter.
