  • Man – made factors contributed to Uttarakhand floods
  • Construction of hydro electric projects in this mountainous regions is one such reason
  • This destabilized the soil on the slopes of this mountain range a lot
  • Also the increasing tourism and the amenities provided to tourists created water pollution which in turn resulted in landslides in this region
  • In order to reach these tourist places like Kedarnath, Alaknanda, roads were constructed which is also a reason for Uttarakhand disaster
  • Steps should be taken to preserve these sites in future which also avoids natural calamities and loss of numerous lives
