"How i taught my grandmother to read" is the story of an old woman who was taught the Kannada alphabet by her grandaughter at the age of 62. What lesson do you learn from the story? Pls give the answer in 100 words.

The text gives out many lessons. Here are a few pointers-

--The idea that there is never an age bar in learning something new. The need for interest, passion and hardwork are the only requirements.

--One can be passionate at any age. The grand-mother being aged was expected to simply immerse herself in prayers and ideas of pilgrimages, however, she found varied interests- the novel Kashi Yatre and the wish to become a literate.

--One should be heedful to the needs of others, especially elders. The narrator reads out the story to her grandmother consistently. Also, later, though at first she laughs at her grandmother's wish to become a literate, she willingly teaches to her grandmother the kannada letter.

--The notion of independence is important. The grandmother did not like the idea of asking others to read to her. She realised that she can not forever depend on others, her uncomplaining grand-daughter included. She wanted to overcome the feeling of helplessness.

--Wealth and riches cannot buy everything. The need to be educated is also important. Wealth alone does not make one independent.
