Vertices refers to the number of corners.

and we know circles and ovals does not have any vertices

so circles and ovals either have 0 or infinite vertices

A vertex is the point on a polygon where the lines meet. Vertices are more than one vertex. For example a triangle has three vertices and a square has four.
