 how to change direct speech to indirect speech, when direct speech is in the form of question??

when direct speech is a question,the question mark is removed and the sentence becomes like following:

direct speech: rita said ritu,"have you done your homework?"

indirect speech: Rita asked Ritu whether /if she had done her homework.

There are certain rules for that ,

if the question verb is helping verb then while changing whether or if is used otherwise verb is used as it is and the conversion takes place on the basis of tense

example: q. rahul asked andy,''are you o.k"?

ans.rahul asked andy whether/if she was o.k.
