how to solve x2+x/4-1/8 (2 means square of x)

product= -1/8
sum= 1/4
possible values for -1/8 are ± 1/8,±1 or ±1/4, ± 1/2
-1/4  + 1/2 =(-1+2)/ 4 =1/4
-1/4 * 1/2 = -1/8
Therfore x^2 +x/4 -1/8 = x^2  -x *1/4 +x*1/2-1/8
=x(x-1/4)  +1/2( x-1/4)
=(x-1/4)(x+1/2)
