The given observations are x, x + 2, x + 4, x + 6 and x + 8.

$Mean of the given observations = \frac{Sum of the given observations}{5} ∴ \frac{x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) + (x + 6) + (x + 8)}{5} = 11 \Rightarrow 5 x + 20 = 55 \Rightarrow 5 x = 55 - 20 = 35 \Rightarrow x = 7 ∴ x + 2 = 7 + 2 = 9 a n d x + 4 = 7 + 4 = 11$

∴ First three observations are 7, 9 and 11.

$Median of first three observations = (\frac{3 + 1}{2})^{th} observation = (\frac{4}{2})^{th} observation =2^{nd} observation = 9$

Thus, the median of first three observation is 9.
