In and experiment the tails of mice were surgically removed generation after generation, yet tailless mice never appeared in the progeny.

Give reason

This was the famous experiment performed by August Weismann. He proposed that somatic cell plays no role in heredity, and are not inherited, only the germ cell pass on traits and which is not affected by any traits the somatic cell acquire during the lifetime of an organism. This is the reason why after cutting the tails of mice for 22 generations, not a single tailless mice appeared in the progeny

It happens as the tail of the mouse is in their genes so it is passed on from one generation to other . even if the tail is removed surgically then it is not in their genes so tailless mouse do not appear in the progeny.

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
