You can make a model on electromagnet called solenoid. Take an iron rod and wind it with the copper wire and connect the rod to a battery with the help of a key. Place some iron nails in front of the rod. When the circuit is completed by tapping the key, the current flows in the solenoid and it behaves like an electromagnet which attracts the iron nails near it and the iron nails will stick to the solenoid.

 

As soon as the current is switched off, the iron nails will fall due to absence of electromagnetism.
