lateral displacement depends which factors

 Lateral displacement depends upon-

  • thickness of glass slab
  • angle of incidence
  • refractive index of glass slab

Lateral displacement is directly proportional to the  above three factors.

  • It is inversely proportional to the wavelength of incident light.

  • 9

angle of incidence

R.I of the medium

color of light

  • 3

lateral displacement is the distance by which the incident light has been displaced after bending through the glass slab.

it depends upon refractive index of the intervening medium and the angle of incidence

Hi Chaitan !!!!

the factors are :):):)

  • the thickness of glass block .. more the thickness more is the lateral displacement ...
  • angle of incidence on the block ... more the angle of incidence more is the lateral displacement ..
  • the refractive index of the glass block , and therefore on the wavelength of the light used .... increase in refractive index increses the lateral displacement ... decrease in wavelength increases lateral displacement ..

Hope this helps !!!!
