List the factors that you think inhibit tourists from coming to India. Find practical solutions to each of them. Give reasons to support your solutions.

This question is to be answered on the basis of your own understanding, experience and thoughts. It is strongly recommended that you prepare the solution on your own. However, some pointers for discussion have been provided for your reference.

(a) Unfriendly attitude towards tourists: People should be educated to behave well with tourists. They should be made to understand that tourism is essential for the growth of our economy.

(b) Lack of awareness and ownership: Citizens should be made aware about the significance of tourism for the progress of our country by showing them that states like Kerala and Rajasthan depend on tourism as the means of livelihood to a large extent. A sense of ownership could also be cultivated through workshops so that people take pride in public properties and do not damage them.

(c) Lack of safety and security: Police protection must be provided at tourist spots to ensure the security of tourists. Tourists should feel safe to move about anywhere in the country without being robbed or mistreated.

(d) Lack of hygiene and cleanliness: The municipal corporations should make sure that the city and especially the tourist spots are clean. National contests could be held to award the most clean and hygienic municipal corporations in the country.
