Dear Student,

  • Religious reformers had played an integral role as a factor of nationalism and laid the ground for debate western culture versus Indian culture. They were integrated into the mainstream politics. Mahatma Gandhi supported ethics with politics , Tilak supported Ganpati festivals, iconised regional leaders like Shivaji. Whereas in Indo-Chinese struggle for Freedom, the religious leaders could not find place in the mainstream politics.
  • In Indian freedom struggle, The leadership prophesied the adoption of non-violent methods, passive resistance, to bring changes in constitution by participation on the inside as well as outside. Indo-Chinese struggle lacked these aspects.
